Ben Towill wasn’t exactly doing too badly as a chef in London: by his mid-20s he’d toiled in kitchens belonging to Raymond Blanc, Rick Stein and Gordon Ramsey. In New York - notorious home of the exacting foodie - he’s gone down a storm with the reception given to his organic, farm-to-table fare at his Lower East Side restaurant The Fat Radish and catering company Silkstone guaranteeing a high ranking in the Big Apple food firmament. Towill, who grew up in the English countryside and on the coast, has swiftly adapted to New York custom: he spent most of the summer out of the city, working in the Hamptons.
