Featured Store: Carnaby Street London

In 1950 our Carnaby Street store used to be a live jazz venue called Club Eleven. Originally located at 41 Great Windmill Street, Soho, the club played a significant role in the early history of British bebop, a form of modern jazz. The club was so named because it had 11 founders – business manager Harry Morris and ten British bebop musicians. Club Eleven had two house bands, one led by Ronnie Scott and the other by John Dankworth.

Exhibition: Leviathan by Michael Mantis

Our London head office sits in the heart of Clerkenwell, where there is always something to see or do. The Department of Coffee and Social Affairs can be located down Leather Lane, a remodelled architectural ironmonger, the site is a collaboration of coffee lovers, designers and artists. Last week saw the opening of Michael Mantis’ exhibition ‘Leviathan’ and we went down to see behind the scenes on the day of the exhibition launch.
