Staff Picks: Christie// Commerical Street
As the staff in our stores spend more time with the collection than almost anyone else, helping ease your sartorial woes and to find that perfect shirt, we think they’re in the best place to tell us how to wear it. Ahead of our Mod_ular Blanc Acid Jazz pop-up store this week, we spoke to Christy at our Commerical Street store and asked her for her top picks.
I’m absolutely in love with this malt coloured turtle neck sweater, the merino wool makes it feel amazing. I would dress this with a pair of tailored trousers for a relaxed smart look during the day, and then throw on a blazer for the evening. It’s a really versatile piece.
Turtle Neck Jumper
The Hampton trousers are another favourite of mine. They remind me of a pair of vintage trousers from the 70’s I picked up back home, they are more tapered however. I would pair these with our open rib knitted polo for a casual look.
Cutaway Collar Shirt
This polka dot shirt is great. I love the use of the cutaway collar to create interest in this shirt. The colour and pattern are great too. Worn with a pair of Sloppy Jeans, braces and creeper shoes, this shirt adds up to a great outfit.
This cognac coloured buckle shoe is a real gentleman’s shoe. Work with the Hampton trousers for a relaxed feel or with one of our Camden fit suits for work or pleasure. This shoe is versatile and stunning.
Who are your style icons?
I’m inspired by Clark Gable, he’s a winner. Smart suits with pocket squares and tie pins, although I'm not a massive fan of the moustache, but you can’t win them all. Another inspiration for me is Don Draper in Mad Men, he completely rocks the dapper gentleman look. I love his weekend attire, smart knitted polo, tailored trousers and smart lace up shoes - a perfect combination.
What is the one item you could not live without?
I couldn’t live without my moss coloured lambskin coat. It has brown and cream lambskin around the collar and gorgeous wooden buttons. I recently took it to Bestival and lived in it for the weekend. It’s definitely going to be essential this winter.
What are your favourite things to do around Commercial Street?
I love the weekend vintage market just off Brick Lane. It runs Friday through Sunday and I always manage to find some diamonds in there. If I have a Sunday off I love wandering around the various food stalls of Spitalfields and Brick Lane, so many great cheap eats.
What's your favourite album on your iPod right now?
My favourite album at the moment is Theme Park’s Wax EP. It’s a really relaxing album and makes me feel I’m on holiday somewhere tropical., especially the song 'Ghosts'. Coming into winter it’s nice to fantasise about holidays.
