Ben Sherman AW15 x Pendleton

For over 150 years, Pendleton set the bar for U.S fabrics and pattern styling. Still the family-owned business it began as, they continue to create popular weave woolen pieces at their iconic Northwest Mills site.

As two brands steeped in tradition and authenticity, Ben Sherman & Pendleton have collaborated to create a three-piece shirt collection as part of our AW15 story.

This history of Pendleton goes back as far as Oregon 1863, where British weaver Thomas Kay explored the state: discovering new patterns and beginning the woolen making process. Kay’s three grandsons went on to open the Woolen Mills in the early 1900s, creating their first men’s wool plaid shirt in 1924. Six generations later and the brand remains family owned and operated.

The Wool Plaid Shirt is more popular than ever and although the styles and patterns may have changed, the quality hasn’t. It has a natural warmth and durability to prepare your style for any element, whilst the plaid patterning is the unique visual to the brand. We’ve selected two iconic plaid fabrics from the Pendleton archive to produce 3 shirts which also include the signature Ben Sherman design features and tab.

The first of these three designs is cut from an authentic Black Watch Tartan wool fabric, with the second showcasing a green and gold plaid pattern. The third style combines both plaid fabrics where the body has been built from the green and gold fabric, whilst contrasting sleeves and front spade pocket utilise the Black Watch Tartan.

All 3 shirts are cut to a slim yet modern fit, including the Ben Sherman button-down collar, locker loop, box pleat and standout back collar button and were crafted at the Pendleton Mill in Washington, USA.
